Why Should Google Send You Traffic?

I think sometimes that people get to thinking that Google owes them traffic. That all they should have to do is write an article, get a zillion inbound links to the article, and Google just owes them traffic. But think about it - if YOU were a search engine, if YOU were Google - would YOU want your search engine full of quickly written spun articles that their only redeeming quality was that someone had gotten a bunch of links to them?
